Girlfriend's Laptop. Empty Girlfriend's Laptop.

Post by Guest on Sun 22 Jun 2014, 22:58

Whenever she plays Sims 3 her laptop dies on her after a certain amount of time even though her battery is plugged in the charger.. She has no errors with her battery and she has replaced her charger in the past. Idk if the game causes to much heat that it drains her battery even though its plugged in, maybe her charger isnt giving enough power to charge the laptop through gameplay?? When watching movies and doing other social networks it works fine and never dies.. seems to only die on her when shes playing the Sims 3

Hello,

Are you sure the battery itself is still OK ? Also, there should be something like a "power plan" utility which you can adjust...normally, if you plug in the charger, the computer will automatically select a higher power performance; but I'm not sure about your case.

How old is the battery/laptop ?

Assuming the charger is compatible with the battery/laptop, and there are no other damages to the computer, you might want to try another (new) battery, but maybe someone else has a second opinion on this.

//EDIT

Laptop chargers shouldn't be plugged in all the time; so it's a good idea to use the battery power for things like writing or surfing the web. For gaming purposes then, you should plug in the charger.

Thing is that if you leave the charger connected to the laptop all the time; heat will be created, and in the long run, this damages your battery.

Hi there,

A little tip: if you don't move the laptop much (so you don't need a battery), just take the battery out and only plug in your power chord. That way your laptop (battery) can't get hot.
Try playing that way.

If you want to move the laptop, while laptop is on, just plug the battery back in, unplug the power chord, move your laptop and then plug in the power chord again and take out the battery again, if possible.
Be careful not to unplug the power chord when the laptop is on and there's no battery in it. If you do that, your laptop will fall out immediately.
