New to playing the pirated version and I'm feeling completely lost. Please help.

Post by Channy on Fri 21 Sep 2018, 21:32

Hi!

Firstly, THANK YOU for making this game available for free to people that cannot afford it. I am so grateful. Why God. As the title says, I'm new to this stuff and I am completely lost. English is not my first language, so some of the detailed guides also went whoosh over my head.

I'll list some of my current questions:

1.) I recently downloaded the torrent for The Sims 4 (base-game) and an expansion (Get to Work) from the following link: games4theworld(dot)org/downloads/
I was later VERY scared of possibly getting caught by EA for downloading it without using a VPN. I am still terrified. I don't want to use a free VPN and paying for one right now might not be possible for me. Could I get in trouble for this?

2.) I've recently read about ZLOrigin and that we can directly download The Sims 4 (base-game) and every expansion from there. Is that so? If so, was downloading the torrents from the link I provided above not necessary?

Basically, what is the difference between downloading from the link above, and ZLOrigin?

Thank you in advance and I apologize for my stupid questions.

1. Yes, depending on where you're from, you can get in trouble for downloading illegal torrents. games4theworld.org/downloads/ isn't official website anymore, all downloads are located on forum. There's a "All Games4theworld" button at the top.

2. Yes, you can download everything from ZLOrigin. And if you do it right, ZLOrigin can use what you already downloaded. Let's say you installed your game to C drive:
- make "C:\ZLO Games" folder and move your game installation folder there, so it's "C:\ZLO Games\The Sims 4"
- in ZLOrigin options change install location to "C:\ZLO Games"
- install Sims 4 in ZLOrigin

Keep in mind that ZLOrigin needs ZClient, which needs internet access before you start the game.

Alternatively you can use my repack. I provide direct download links (Mediafire, Mega and Sendit) and download size is smaller than from torrents or ZLOrigin. If you already have base game and Get to Work, download everything except those files:
base-files.bin
dlc-ep01-get-to-work.bin
dlc-fp01-holiday-celebration-pack.bin
dlc-gp01-outdoor-retreat.bin

In total 11.96GB to download.

Thank you for the reply!

1. Do you know if I am likely to get caught if I am from Belgium? Is there even a high chance of getting caught in general?

2. Is it safer to download the pirated version of The Sims 4 and its expansions directly from ZLOrigin than torrenting?
In which case, do you think I should just install ZLOrigin and download everything from there? I have not installed The Sims 4 and Get to Work yet.

3. I would have followed the following guide to install The Sims 4 in my second partition since my C Drive has no space: https://www.games4theworld.club/t19572-how-to-move-the-sims-4-to-another-partition-after-installation-fix
If I install ZLOrigin and downloaded the base-game + expansions from it, would I still be able to install it to my second partition and not the C drive? If so, are there any guides for it?

Thanks again!

1. No idea. Try googling " copyright notice" and see if other people had any trouble.

2. Yeah, it's safer. But if you already have those two downloaded, you can install them.

3. You don't need to follow this guide, the game works without it. Just move game from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4" to, let's say "D:\ZLO Games\The Sims 4". And set installation path in ZLOrigin options to "D:\ZLO Games". Or any other drive letter.

Thank you so much for the replies. I'm still slightly confused so I've sent you a PM with a few questions, hope that's okay with you! Didn't want to spam this thread with more silly questions.

No, Belgium, as yet, has no intentions to fine torrent-downloaders.
Just like in the Netherlands, they try and stop uploaders who are making a profit out of these uploads.
France and Germany are taking steps to downloaders offering copies of such downloads on places like "Marktplaats" or Ebay or simular buy/sell websites, reason why I don't allow adverts on my sites and I don't ask for donations. (Nevertheless: It's still illegal).

ZLOrigin/Zclient offers direct ( also still illegal ) downloads for EA games like the Sims 2,3 and 4 but these downloads are more difficult to trace by the authorities.
When you add the latest Game folder from f.e. G4TW to your ZLOrigin downloads, you can play the Sims 4 off-line.

Are these private people trying to sell their games (disappointed by The Sims 4)? Or small businesses? In case of the latter: I'm pretty sure though that the copies of PC games that are offered by third-party resellers, are in most cases NOT authorized by EA or any other game publisher.

Always wondered how small businesses offering the base game of The Sims 4 (or other DLC) for 30 Euros or less can do this, if the default price is almost double. Maybe the games were stolen.

I can't imagine that these small businesses are authorized by EA to sell below the "recommended" price, unless on special occasions.
