Does origin not recognize them? I read through the guide for this but I am still slightly confused.

The guide doesn't directly mention that aspect.
If it had ever been possible - hypothetically - to use pirated DLC and add them "into" an Origin account...don't you think that such a scenario would affect EA's game sames, and probably in a negative way? And furthermore, that EA would certainly try implementing counter-measures?
I know TS3 was to some extent more 'easy-going', in that regard. But TS4 is entirely different from a technical standpoint: the DRM (copyright-ptotection) is a lot harder than it was with TS3, plus you can't compare the general climate and attitudes of today, with the relatively easy-going era of TS3.
In case you still don't understand: it is not, and it never was, possible to use the cracked TS4 DLC on an Origin game.
